Overview: Our client, a leading online gaming company based in London, is seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join their growing team. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing the test automation framework, focusing on API and end-to-end (E2E) testing, and driving automation across manual processes. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and management of test/ automation architectures, focusing on API and end-to-end (E2E) testing frameworks.
• Oversee non-functional testing efforts, particularly performance testing, to ensure optimal gaming experiences.
• Identify and implement opportunities to automate manual processes, streamlining efficiency in the gaming platform.
• Support overall QA team activities, including:
• Managing structured tickets within the SDLC.
• Providing timely assurance on development outputs.
• Administering test environments and overseeing documentation and reporting for gaming features.
• Mentor team members on QA best practices, with a strong emphasis on automation and strategic thinking within the gaming context.
• Champion quality assurance processes within the broader gaming development team, ensuring alignment with production data and risk-based testing priorities.
  Essential Experience / Skills:
  
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a SDET, ideally within the gaming industry or a similar fast-paced tech environment.
  • Expertise in automating tests using frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Appium, or similar tools.
  • Strong experience in server-side API testing, integration testing, and a solid understanding of REST APIs, particularly for gaming platforms.
  • Proficiency in JIRA for defect logging, test scenario development, execution, and status reporting.
  • Advanced SQL query writing skills for data-heavy gaming applications.
  • Hands-on experience setting up CI/ CD pipelines with GitLab.
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and Kanban methodologies.
  • Proficiency in PHP, TypeScript, or JavaScript programming.
  • Experience with tools like Postman, LambdaTest, and K6 for various testing activities within the gaming environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot test failures, identify root causes, and implement fixes for gaming-related features.
  • Experience in cross-browser functional and integration testing, as well as regression, performance, and load testing for gaming applications.
  • Strong skills in documenting and managing risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with stakeholders on sprint and test strategy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including negotiation, facilitation, and consensus-building abilities.
    Desirable:
    
    • Experience of working in a gaming, gambling, or online marketing company.
    • Exposure to customer/ marketing analytics (e.g., segmentation, churn, retention, etc.).
