Infrastructure Engineer (3-Month Contract) may extend but must be able to commit to a minimum 3 months Wilmslow Remote / Hybrid with some onsite visits On behalf of our Client, Acorn By Synergie are currently seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Engineer to join a forward-thinking team in Wilmslow on a 3-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity for a technology driven individual with expertise in maintaining IT infrastructure, including networks, virtualised datacentres, and disaster recovery platforms. Job Purpose: As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting the management of the entire IT infrastructure, including virtualised datacentres, networks, disaster recovery platforms, and backup solutions. Key Responsibilities: Split focus between project activities (designing and implementing solutions) and reactive BAU support. Specify and implement technical infrastructure solutions to address business challenges. Manage and maintain datacentre technologies such as Hyper V, NetApp, Cisco Nexus, Dell Server, and Cisco Catalyst devices. Collaborate with third-party providers to support WAN and edge technologies (Fortigate firewalls, Cisco routers). Manage LAN and WLAN (Unifi) across 50 diverse locations. Maintain and develop user access layers on RDS/Remote App platform. Oversee enterprise applications and infrastructure, including hybrid Microsoft 365 directory, Exchange, SharePoint, and SQL servers. Manage backup and recovery systems (Veeam, Datto, Azure Site Recovery). Oversee security systems (anti-malware, email security, Cisco DUO MFA). Develop and maintain SCCM for machine build processes. Proactively monitor devices and networks using tools like PRTG. Manage mobile devices using Intune. Respond to datacentre notifications regarding failed hardware/software. Perform capacity planning and monitor system storage. Participate in disaster recovery strategy and testing. Maintain up-to-date documentation of servers, systems, networks, and configurations. Assist in developing communication plans for system reboots and outages. Adhere to change control procedures for infrastructure technologies. Provide technical support for 2nd line incidents and above as required. Lead major incident responses. Person Specification: Strong knowledge of Microsoft on-premise, cloud, and virtualisation technologies. Familiarity with NetApp or similar storage solutions and Veeam Backup and Replication. Proficiency in computer networking, server hardware, MPLS networks, and VPNs. Business-literate with a customer-focused approach to technical problem-solving. Creative problem solver with a tenacious attitude. Degree in IT or equivalent experience.
