Key Responsibilities:
Strategy and Planning
* Contribute and shape the Client Data & Analytics Strategy making sure that we are embracing tech and data to support our user's demand for insights and more informed decision making
* Contributes to functional strategy development and prioritises the operational deliverables and activities of team to support delivery of overall business targets.
* Contribute to the delivery of our analytics strategy, enabling all user's with the capability to access data and insights for decision making.
* As an analytics leader, create the global standards and principles for delivering consistent UI designs and tools across all analytics engineers
* Support our ambition to become a top quartile analytics company, recruiting top talent in all locations delivering high quality, strategic analytical tools
Policy, Process and Procedures
* Support the design and delivery of the analytics infrastructure on Azure or AWS, with a focus on Synapse, Power BI or Tableau and deliver of the analytical data layer built on our single version of truth
* Co-Create the engineering standards for the analytical data sets and reports to ensure consistent delivery of analytical products across
* Reviewing user requirements, lead the design of all User Interface designs in Power BI including the guidelines for using the appropriate visualisations to match the insights use case.
* Explains technical considerations at related meetings, including those with internal clients and less experienced team members.
* Reviews end product with the client to ensure adequate understanding and confirmation the deliverables meet user acceptance criteria before production.
* Provide data analysis, engineering, data model, and data management guidance the rest of the engineering unit
* Ensures that all code is well structured, includes sufficient documentation, and is easy to maintain and reuse.
* Gains expertise in tools, technologies, and applications/databases in specific business areas and company-wide systems.
* Troubleshoots software and processes for data consistency and integrity.
* Proactively seek opportunities to improve Client's data to increase employee productivity, efficiency, and satisfaction.
* Identifies/supports continuous improvement and step-change opportunities, to increase cost effectiveness and/or infrastructure flexibility.
Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus
* Deliver a cost-effective, performant data services to contribute to Client's profitability and business performance.
* Participate in both large- and small-scale projects for the design, transition, and operational activities associated with the delivery of new or existing data assets or services to the user community.
* Build trusting, productive, and sustainable relationships and partnerships with customers to allow our data function to deliver maximum value in the services offered across the data services portfolio.
* Works with key stakeholders/business managers to encourage adoption of our single version of data truth, ensuring this is used by all for delivering insights
* Maintains regular contact with the business and cross functional IT teams to promote, support, and monitor progress and ensure clarity for new and existing data capabilities and data assets.
* Develops and foster a service- orientated culture within the IT team to deliver and optimize service offerings and implement initiatives to drive consistent service delivery.
* Comply with external and internal regulatory and statutory policies, procedures, and regulations.
Technical Performance
* Demonstrate extensive experience in building analytical tools, creating both descriptive and predictive insights, within both Data Warehouse and Data Lake environments
* Significant experience in working within cloud-based data infrastructure most notably Azure including tools such as Data Factory, Data Bricks, Synapse and Power BI
* Experience coding in both SQL, DAX
* Basic understanding of python and SQL within a Spark environment
* Support the design of our single version of data truth data model, ensuring the design makes it easy to use and to derive insights for all data skill levels
* Working with the Data Leadership Team, ensure the Data Analytics environment is designed, supported, and managed in accordance with business needs
* Produce ad-hoc management information/analysis that illustrates the quality of your data products and pipelines
* Participate and undertake applicable professional, technical and career development training (delivered internally and externally) to include attainment of associated qualifications where required.
Skills & Experience:
* Specific professional qualifications at the level of degree or equivalent (eg, computer science, management of information systems or similar).
* At least 7 years of experience as a senior Analytical engineer and design experience in the Microsoft tech stack including on Azure cloud
* Expert in creating visualisations that support decision making
* Experience within Financial Services (especially Insurance)
* Qualified within own personal discipline, with extensive post-qualification work experience to include:
o Evidence of supporting technical and operational strategy.
o Working as part of a senior team within a complex organisation (preferably within financial services industry)
o Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation.
* Strong analytical engineering experience using Azure analytical tools such as Power BI, Tableau, building Dax cubes and datamarts from a single version of truth
* Experienced in building analytical infrastructure and engineering standards to bring consistency for the of all analytical products
* Experienced in creating engineering standards and monitoring the adoption and benefits across the analytical engineers
* Expert in the selection of visualisations and charts to get maximum benefit from insights to support decision making.
