Allen Lane is delighted to be supporting the Parliamentary Digital Service (PDS) for the appointment of a permanent Deputy Director of Cyber Security - a new role in the organisation.

Salary: £80,000 - £98,500 (SCS1 grade) + a Market Sector Allowance (MSA) of up to £5,000 per annum

Location: Westminster, London (hybrid working, c.2-3 days per week expected on site)

This a unique opportunity to protect the UK's democratic process, working as part of Parliament's Cyber Security team. The Cyber threat to Parliament is a challenging one to meet, balancing security and transparency whilst protecting some very high-profile targets. The Cyber Security team must remain switched on to geopolitical and domestic activity to protect its people, data, and technology.

The Deputy Director of Cyber Security is a new role and will have primary responsibility for joining up Cyber Operations across the PDS Cyber Security Operations and Member facing areas. The Head of Cyber Security Operations reports into the Deputy Director role. This role will therefore have accountability for the Cyber Red and Blue teams, Threat Intelligence, and Cyber Security Operations Center (CSOC).

The Parliamentary Digital Service, a joint department of both Houses of Parliament, provides secure digital services to all parliamentary users. We are also responsible for the strategic direction of Parliament's digital offering through Parliament's Digital Strategy and the delivery and management of parliamentary digital platforms.

In this role, you will act as a cross-functional technical interface on Member facing operational cyber security incidents (attacks and breaches), working alongside the Parliamentary Security Directorate (PSD) Members Security Support Service (MSSS) and the Personal Cyber Assistance Service (PCAS) teams, integrating with and using the PDS CSOC function to enrich and support with these incidents.

You will provide expert technical advice and input into the PCAS service provided by PSD and into cyber security advice to Members.

Applicants are expected to demonstrate proven experience against each of the following criteria in their CV and statement of suitability:

  • Applied security leadership | Experience of leading an operational cyber security function in a demanding stakeholder environment, building relationships and trust to ensure secure outcomes.
  • Stakeholder communications | Experience of being an excellent communicator around cyber security matters to stakeholders and high profile/ threat senior users, including Members of both Houses, with a wide range of technical understanding.
  • Cyber incident response co-ordination | Experience of cyber incident response and management in a complex environment, co-ordinating and communicating with and between technical digital teams and senior stakeholders, ensuring that high impact cyber incidents are managed, controlled, and resolved.
  • Threat environment | Experience of working in a highly targeted and constantly evolving cyber security environment.
  • People management | Experience of developing and inspiring staff whilst upholding the values of equality, diversity, and inclusion.

     

    The successful candidate will be required to complete pre-employment checks. This includes security vetting to Developed Vetting (DV) level. The successful candidate is required to hold this clearance or pass this check before an offer can be confirmed.
