Firmware Developer

Location: Aberdeen Texo Recruitment is seeking a Firmware Developer for a permanent, full-time role in Aberdeen. This position is crucial for designing, developing, and maintaining firmware for smart downhole oil and gas completion tools. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in C/C++ and experience with embedded systems. Key Responsibilities: * Develop and maintain firmware for embedded systems in downhole completion tools * Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration * Conduct debugging, testing, and troubleshooting of firmware * Optimise firmware for performance, reliability, and efficiency * Maintain documentation and implement firmware updates * Stay updated on technological advancements and contribute to process improvements Requirements: * Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field * 3-5 years’ experience in firmware development * Proficiency in C/C++, with experience in microcontroller architecture and RTOS * Familiarity with debugging tools, hardware schematics, and datasheets * Knowledge of smart downhole completion tools is a plus Preferred Skills: * Master’s degree in a relevant field. * Experience in the oil and gas industry. * Familiarity with LabView, GitHub, and Agile methodologies.
